Vodafone IoT provides compliant in-vehicle connectivity services, helping Hyundai Motor Group expand its business in the Middle East
Hyundai Motor Group (whose brands include Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis) has partnered with Vodafone IoT to deploy compliant in-vehicle connectivity services in Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Through collaboration with Vodafone IoT’s network partners in the region, such as e& Networks in the UAE, Hyundai Motor Group gains access to reliable, secure, and locally compliant in-vehicle connectivity services.
Vodafone IoT’s Global SIM+ solution provides Hyundai Motor Group with a seamless in-vehicle connectivity experience in the Middle East. This solution dynamically converts Vodafone IoT’s Global SIM card into a local SIM card. Consequently, it provides local network credentials, data routing, compliance with local laws and regulations, and seamless cross-border connectivity. As a result, automakers can launch services more easily and efficiently in regulated countries. They can also enable global access to connected services.
Vodafone IoT’s partnerships with local network operators, such as e& UAE, further enhance these capabilities. These partners ensure compliance, provide network resilience, and reliable connectivity. Network partners have collaborated to enhance the quality and reliability of Hyundai Motor Group’s connected services in the Middle East. They do this by providing extensive network coverage, advanced IoT capabilities, and deep local expertise across the region.
Combined with Vodafone IoT’s leading managed connectivity platform, which integrates directly into the infrastructure of local network partners, the manufacturer can manage its global IoT assets from a single platform. As a result, this enables true global coverage and centralized operational control.
Based on these capabilities, Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis customers in the Middle East will be able to utilize a range of connected car features. These include remote vehicle control, real-time status monitoring, and enhanced convenience services. Additionally, this collaboration aims to deliver a seamless and intuitive digital experience. It enables drivers to manage their vehicles and ensure their safety anytime, anywhere.
Vodafone IoT and Hyundai Motor plan to expand their connected car partnership to new countries in the Middle East and Africa in the near future.
Erik Brenneis, CEO of Vodafone IoT, stated, “As manufacturers seek to deploy connected cars in different regions, providing them with reliable, secure, and locally compliant connected services is crucial. We are honored to partner with Hyundai Motor Group to leverage our global SIM+ to deliver innovative in-vehicle connectivity solutions. This solution provides local credentials and seamless cross-border services, transforming vehicles into secure connected platforms that ensure the safety, information flow, and interconnectivity of drivers and passengers. Together, we will expand these capabilities to more countries and more vehicles, shaping the future of connected mobility.”
Ko Hyun-woo, Head of Connected Business Team at Hyundai Motor Group, said, “The launch of connected car services in the Middle East aligns with Hyundai Motor Group’s software-defined vehicle strategy, marking a significant step forward in delivering intelligent and personalized mobility experiences — empowering our customers and redefining how they interact with their vehicles through seamless connectivity and regionally tailored digital services.”
“Thanks to Vodafone IoT’s leading managed connectivity platform, we are not only connecting cars, but also people to a world full of endless possibilities, making life easier, safer, and more enjoyable by combining our leadership in automotive innovation with Vodafone’s expertise in IoT.”
