As a global leader in retail RFID solutions, Checkpoint Systems has integrated the new RAIN RFID UCODE® X chip into its RFID smart labels. This solidifies its position as an innovator in contactless identification. Developed by leading semiconductor manufacturer NXP®, the UCODE X chip offers enhanced performance, configurable memory, and superior integration flexibility. These features further enrich Checkpoint’s existing RFID tag product line. Moreover, they help meet the evolving needs of its customers. Currently, Checkpoint’s UX series RFID inlays are among the first tag products to receive ARC certification.
Innovation Drives Market Leadership
By being among the first to adopt the NXP UCODE X chip, Checkpoint Systems once again demonstrates its keen insight into market trends. Additionally, it shows rapid responsiveness by providing increasingly efficient RFID solutions. These solutions closely align with customer operational needs.
This integrated application significantly enhances the performance of RFID tags. Some RFID tag products have seen a sensitivity improvement of -3 dBm, ensuring longer reading distances and greater data reliability. Applications include inventory management, product tracking, and logistics optimization.
Leading RFID Chip Lays the Foundation for Breakthrough Technology
Addressing the growing demand for RAIN RFID applications, the NXP UCODE X chip better integrates industry-leading read/write sensitivity with fully configurable EPC and user memory space. This provides exceptional flexibility for customized application scenarios. Moreover, it is compatible with the EPC Gen2 standard. In addition, the chip utilizes non-proprietary features for seamless integration with widely used RFID tag formats. As a result, it ensures faster and more accurate reading performance. This is especially notable in challenging RFID environments.
Checkpoint is one of the first tag suppliers to achieve ARC certification for UCODE X chip tags. Checkpoint’s Tyfung UX series RFID INLAY has already passed 11 ARC SPECs, including SPEC Q and SPEC C2. The Vortex UX has also passed multiple ARC certifications, including SPEC Q and SPEC W5.
“At Checkpoint, we actively integrate advanced technologies into RFID tags to deliver reliable and diverse RFID solutions to our customers,” said Inge Fleuren, Global RFID Product Solutions Manager at Checkpoint.“The integration of the UCODE X chip exemplifies this commitment. Checkpoint is proud to leverage the recognized expertise and continuous innovation of our partner NXP to jointly lead the future development of the RFID market.”
Ralf Kodritsch, Senior Director of NXP UCODE RFID, noted: “With UCODE X, we are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with RAIN RFID technology. By collaborating with our partner Checkpoint and their established market solutions, we will accelerate the adoption of this technology and advance our mission of ‘tagging everything with UCODE X’ — bringing high-performance, standards-based solutions to more products and markets.”
Starting in 2026, Checkpoint will implement the NXP UCODE X chip and further solidify its position as a leading global benchmark manufacturer of RFID inlays and tags. Moreover, Checkpoint continues to build a connected, efficient, and sustainable RFID ecosystem. This will enhance the supply chain for the industry and its customers.
