Telenor IoT today announced a partnership with startup PLAATO, which focuses on simplifying the process of acquiring production data from control systems. The partnership also simplifies acquiring intelligent data from sensor technology.
This collaboration aims to transform the brewing, distillation, and other fermentation industries by providing practitioners with advanced real-time insights. It also aims to provide connected solutions through IOT to improve productivity, product quality, and resource utilization.
Since 2021, PLAATO has been developing leading industrial software and sensor products. Its team, comprised of technical experts from Europe and the United States, has gained significant global recognition since its inception. Today, PLAATO serves over 300 customers in more than 35 countries, leveraging IOT for efficiency.
With PLAATO, brewers can brew more beer more easily, more quickly, and more efficiently. They can view end-to-end production data on a unified platform. This was previously difficult to achieve. This allows them to gain a comprehensive understanding of the beer brewing process. It also helps ensure that the recipe is always “on schedule” throughout production. With increasing investment in artificial intelligence and analytics, PLAATO is gaining deeper insights into brewery operational performance. They are tracking productivity improvement initiatives, and planning industry peer benchmarking to help identify improvement opportunities. These opportunities arise by integrating IOT.
On the connectivity front, PLAATO selected Telenor IoT to provide its IoT Complete service, a complete end-to-end IoT infrastructure solution with all services centralized on a single platform. Because PLAATO’s customers use PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) across multiple stages of their production facilities, employing diverse equipment and protocols, Telenor IoT’s IoT Complete service helps transform these varied control system configurations into a standardized format usable by PLAATO’s software applications. This allows PLAATO to now provide breweries with unique production data and insights without significant investment in custom equipment. They utilize the power of IOT.
“We’ve been moving forward with this project since September 2024 and have made rapid progress in the development and implementation of the solution. This not only demonstrates the efficiency of our collaboration but also showcases the power of IoT Complete — it truly enables plug-and-play functionality and significantly shortens product development cycles,” said Niklas Agerhem, Head of IoT Complete at Telenor IoT. “When we first met with the Telenor IoT team, we were in the early stages of developing a similar solution. However, we quickly realized how complex it was to build such a flexible platform from scratch. Partnering with Telenor IoT was a wise move — they had already overcome the key challenge of connectivity. PLAATO, a data and insights company, allowed us to focus on what we do best: building an industry-leading platform for production monitoring, analytics, and optimization,” said Magnus Valmot, CEO of PLAATO.
The newly launched PLAATO Edge provides unparalleled production process insights for breweries, distilleries, and other fermentation industries. PLAATO seamlessly integrates data acquisition, connectivity, and leading Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to deliver a true end-to-end solution for analyzing quality and efficiency at every stage of production. Aided by IOT, PLAATO’s customers value its intuitive interface, clear and powerful visualizations, deeper insights, and the ability to stay connected to operations anytime, anywhere.
