The core business is international digital communications, built on four connected activities. The first is wholesale connectivity carrying international voice, messaging and data traffic between operator networks worldwide. The second is roaming, enabling subscribers and devices to stay connected when they cross borders. The third is protection: defending networks, revenues and end users against telecom fraud and signalling attacks. The fourth is enterprise connectivity and engagement, turning telco assets such as voice, SMS, RCS, numbering, IoT connectivity and network APIs into commercial products that businesses can buy directly. BICS is the group’s engine for the first three and a major contributor to the fourth, with Telesign and Route Mobile adding digital identity, fraud intelligence and omnichannel CPaaS on top. Founded as Belgacom’s carrier and wholesale unit in 1997 and established as a company in 2004, BICS has spent nearly three decades building one of the industry’s larger international communications networks. It is headquartered in Brussels with offices and service operation centres worldwide, including Dubai, Singapore, Bern, San Francisco and New York, and connects networks in more than 200 countries and territories. Its customers are mobile network operators, MVNOs and MVNEs, satellite operators, service providers and global enterprises. In wholesale connectivity, BICS carries international voice traffic between operators with active quality and routing management, terminates A2P SMS and aggregates RCS so brands can reach subscribers and operators can monetise that traffic, and supplies the signalling, interconnect, IPX and capacity services that let an operator extend its reach globally without building international infrastructure itself. In roaming, BICS operates a broad footprint covering VoLTE enablement and 5G Standalone roaming, and was involved in some of the industry’s earliest commercial 5G SA roaming connections. Advanced roaming analytics sit alongside this, exposing partner quality issues and revenue leakage. In protection, BICS defends operator networks against artificially inflated traffic, Wangiri, SMS pumping, SIM-box bypass and signalling attacks, delivered as a managed capability rather than tooling the operator has to run alone. For operators who would rather not run roaming, interconnect or fraud operations in-house at all, BICS takes them on under managed services and outsourcing models. For enterprises, BICS delivers global IoT connectivity under a single contract, with an eSIM Hub and IoT eSIM supporting SGP.32, LTE-M and NB-IoT across more than 700 operator networks, plus a device lab for pre-deployment testing. Cloud communications cover cloud numbers, cloud telephony, the MyNumbers management platform and number portability, with BYOC integrations including Operator Connect for Microsoft Teams and Google Voice SIP Link. Private Network Connect provides secure 4G and 5G connectivity for manufacturing, mining, logistics, airports, seaports and government, while SCION-based connectivity offers resilient, path-controlled internet for critical infrastructure. Customer engagement runs through the BICS MESO platform, and network APIs are available via Konera, the group’s aggregation platform aligned with the GSMA’s CAMARA initiative. BICS has been named a Champion Roaming Vendor by Kaleido Intelligence, selected as a connectivity partner for Microsoft’s new cloud region in Belgium, and has expanded its collaboration with Google Cloud on enterprise cloud communications.
