Overview
As the global Internet of Things (IoT) enters the stage of large-scale deployment, device power supply and maintenance costs have become major challenges to industry development. According to the latest forecast from IoT Analytics, the number of connected IoT devices worldwide is expected to reach 21.1 billion by the end of 2025 and grow to 39 billion by 2030. Facing massive numbers of distributed sensor nodes, traditional battery-powered solutions are increasingly unable to meet the requirements of long-term deployment due to limited battery life, high maintenance costs, and environmental concerns.
Against this backdrop, Passive IoT and energy harvesting technologies are becoming key drivers for the evolution of the IoT toward an intelligent, fully connected world. Energy harvesting technologies—including RF energy harvesting, photovoltaic energy harvesting, vibration energy harvesting, and thermoelectric energy harvesting—continue to mature and are being rapidly adopted in consumer electronics, smart buildings, environmental monitoring, asset management, and other application scenarios, providing new power solutions for low-maintenance, long-lifetime IoT devices.
From the perspective of enterprises, what is the practical value of Passive IoT and energy harvesting technologies? How much can they reduce operation and maintenance costs for downstream customers? How should commercialization pathways and the industry ecosystem be established?
To explore these questions, join the IOTE 2026 Shenzhen Passive IoT & Energy Harvesting Ecosystem Symposium. The symposium will be held in Shenzhen on August 26, 2026, bringing together leading companies across the industry chain and research institutions, including the Shenzhen Research Institute of Tsinghua University, Superlubricity Technology Research Center, to discuss technological breakthroughs and application scenarios for Passive IoT and energy harvesting technologies.
