Quectel AR588MA 5G-Advanced automotive-grade cellular module for intelligent connected vehicles

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a leading global provider of end-to-end IoT solutions, today announced the launch of the world’s first 5G-A automotive-grade cellular module, the AR588MA. This makes it the industry’s highest-performing and most reliable automotive wireless communication product.

Based on MediaTek’s latest-generation MT2739 platform, the AR588MA supports 5G-A communication technology. It is the world’s first 5G-A module compliant with the 3GPP R18 standard protocol. This module simultaneously features NB-NTN and NR-NTN satellite communication capabilities, showcasing the prominence of 5G technology throughout. It supports dual SIM dual standby (DSDA) technology. This significantly improves the stability and reliability of cellular network connections. It also features intelligent driving scene recognition capabilities. This product complies with the AEC-Q104 Level 2 automotive standard, providing faster, more stable connections and more reliable security for automotive communications. It is suitable for rooftop applications, such as supporting intelligent automotive antennas in higher temperatures.

It satisfies the requirements of intelligent driving for higher data transmission speeds and more stable data processing. The lower latency enhances performance as well. It boasts industry-leading modem performance and enhanced uplink transmission capabilities. The ultra-low latency ensures stable network connectivity. It supports more efficient data transmission and real-time processing. This provides crucial support for the safety and reliability of higher levels of intelligent driving, marking the importance of 5G communication.

GNSS, Antenna Design, and Automotive-Grade Certification

Furthermore, the module integrates dual-band GNSS, supporting L1 and L5 bands with an output frequency up to 30Hz. Leveraging Quectel’s extensive expertise in automotive wireless technology, this module employs a six-port antenna design. It combines proprietary antenna and power compensation technologies to achieve integrated module and antenna performance, providing powerful, wide-coverage, and high-performance wireless connectivity that aligns with 5G standards. It complies with AEC-Q100 Level 2 automotive-grade standards. This ensures reliability and durability even in extreme environmental conditions.

eCall Readiness and Plug-and-Play Compatibility

This module fully supports European eCall, NG eCall, and AECS (China eCall). Thus, it ensures compatibility with current and next-generation emergency call systems. It is plug-and-play compatible with the AG581A, AG56xN, and AG519M series modules. This compatibility shortens customers’ time-to-market while highlighting the convenience offered by 5G technology.
