Industry trend|Wal-Mart suppliers don't know how to use RFID, a foreign company designs software to solve it

2024-07-18

With the rapid development of technology, RFID (radio frequency identification) technology has become an indispensable part of the retail industry, especially in meeting retailers' needs for efficient management. However, the application of this technology is not without challenges, especially when facing compliance risks such as encoding errors and improper label placement, companies face severe tests. Paris Corp., a paper products company headquartered in New Jersey, is facing similar troubles as a supplier to Walmart.

RFID Technology Application and Compliance Challenges

As retail giants such as Walmart force suppliers to introduce RFID tags for products, more and more consumer brands are beginning to adopt this technology to improve supply chain transparency and management efficiency. However, the application of RFID technology is not a one-time thing. The encoding and placement of tags must be accurate, otherwise the product may not meet the requirements of retailers, and even lead to serious consequences such as refunds and fines. Paris Corp. is well aware of this challenge and is actively seeking solutions to ensure the correct application of RFID tags.

QC Trak:

Paris Corp.'s innovative quality control tool

To address the challenges in RFID tag application, Paris Corp. chose FineLine Technology's QC Trak mobile application. The application is based on the quality control process that FineLine has used internally for many years and is designed to help the company ensure that RFID tags are correctly encoded and matched. With QC Trak, Paris Corp. employees can easily verify the data accuracy of all RFID tags, whether they are tags programmed in-house or pre-coded tags from third-party suppliers.

Paris Corp.'s RFID technology deployment was carried out in phases. In the initial stage, they mainly focused on ensuring the accuracy and compliance of RFID tags. Through the application of QC Trak, the company has successfully reduced errors in internal programming, UPC barcode and EPC RFID number setting. In the future, Paris Corp. plans to further utilize RFID tags for internal inventory checks and integrate data collection into the company's ERP system for more efficient inventory management and order processing.

FineLine Technologies, as a partner of Paris Corp., not only provides high-quality RFID tags and applications, but also helps Paris Corp. successfully cope with the challenges of RFID technology application through its rich experience and technical support. Danika Manchester, Director of Product Management of FineLine, said that Paris Corp.'s experience is a microcosm of the supply chain changes that RFID technology deployment may bring. She emphasized that many companies tend to only focus on compliance when implementing RFID technology, but ignore the importance of quality inspection. Therefore, FineLine is committed to providing customers with simple and effective quality control tools such as QC Trak to ensure the correct application and work of RFID tags.

Written in the end

With the growing demand of retailers for supply chain transparency and product tracking, RFID (radio frequency identification) technology is becoming more and more widely used in the consumer goods industry. However, for suppliers like Paris Corp., the deployment of RFID technology is not easy, especially in ensuring that the tags are correctly encoded and accurately match the products, which faces huge challenges and risks. The QC Trak mobile application designed by FineLine has solved these problems for the initial users of RFID.
