"In 2024, consumer security will be at the forefront of the first year." This has become a consensus among many security industry insiders.
Now, 2024 is already halfway through. In the past six months, the consumer security industry market has been very lively, with frequent hot events in the industry grabbing attention; popular new products have been launched one after another, leading the market to high-quality development... From the major consumer security events in the first half of the year, what positive signals has the market revealed? What is its future direction?
In order to let industry insiders have a clearer understanding of the security market trend, promote the implementation of multi-field integrated applications of visual perception, and strengthen the strong cooperation of the industrial ecological chain, on the afternoon of June 28, Visual IoT held the "IOTE Visual IoT Ecosystem Exchange Meeting (Second Phase)". This event specifically invited representative companies and industry experts to review the visual consumer market in the first half of 2024 and explore the future trends of the security market, thereby promoting the deep integration and development of the industry.
If we say that the two hottest topics in the IPC industry in the first half of 2024 are "HiSilicon chips return in shock" and "Tiandi Weiye 55 yuan AK series POE cameras come out of nowhere". First of all, HiSilicon's return not only retains its appeal, but also accelerates the sinking of chip manufacturers. HiSilicon rekindled the IPC SoC market with the Hi35I6CV610 chip, and cooperated with manufacturers such as Zhongwei Century, Xinruishi and Tianshitong, bringing more innovative products and solutions, which brought a lot of shock to the industry. Then, Tiandi Weiye launched the 55 yuan AK series POE camera, which caused an uproar in the market, directly announcing that the era of SMB making a lot of money by price difference has completely ended, and it is very likely to be replaced by the consumer market.
At the same time, the security industry press conferences were very dense in the first half of the year. Tianshitong, Zhongwei Century, Xinruishi, Jiefeng Technology, TUYA, Ankaiwei, EZVIZ Network and other manufacturers held industry press conferences one after another, competing for speed on the basis of innovation and value, and continuously launching a variety of innovative products to drive the innovation and development of the industry.
Among the innovative products launched by industry enterprises, AOV/AOR and blacklight cameras are the most eye-catching. Among them, most manufacturers are actively embracing AOV. Some even predict that most of the future camera products will be AOV low-power products. Mirui, Jiegao, Jiefeng, Xinruishi and other manufacturers have successively launched AOV product solutions, and EZVIZ has also launched new AOV products.
However, many manufacturers still have doubts about the AOV solution, mainly because PIR technology still has several pain points: it cannot record 7*24 hours, resulting in incomplete video information; it is sensitive to the monitoring environment to a certain extent, and it is prone to false alarms/missing alarms; in order to ensure the function of reducing power consumption from the battery, it is necessary to regularly replace the battery or charge it, and the maintenance cost is high; and the detection distance is relatively short.
"Although there are still some pain points in AOV low-power products and the industry is in chaos, low-power cameras are a major trend in future development. It is a major technological revolution from analog cameras to network cameras to wireless cameras." Some industry insiders said that the development of low-power cameras still needs to further standardize industry standards to promote the high-quality development of products.
From the perspective of market operation, in addition to the profits from selling hardware products, value-added services represented by cloud storage, 4G traffic, AI algorithms, and advertising are also gaining more and more attention in the current visual consumer security market. However, the current industry operation is in a period of barbaric development, especially for 4G products. Although its growth rate is very fast, the chaos of 4G traffic charges has made 4G products very controversial. But no matter what, the most important point is that the foundation of any value-added service operation must be based on hardware quality.
Speaking of one of the hottest topics in the past two years, "AI big model" is absolutely indispensable. What can AI big model do in the visual consumer market? The first is to combine the end-cloud big model to reduce the cost of AI algorithm development and improve the accuracy of the algorithm; the second is to improve the interactive capabilities, such as voice retrieval, crying detection, active perception, interactive functions of screen cameras, social capabilities of pet robots, etc.; the third is to achieve interconnection with more smart terminals.
However, there are still many problems in the implementation of AI big models in the security industry. In essence, training a professional industry big model requires high computing power costs, data costs, algorithm costs, and talent costs. Security itself is an industry with very fragmented and complex application scenarios, and the requirements of each application scenario are not consistent, which leads to the cost investment of big models being disproportionate to the corresponding commercial value and commercial benefits.
Despite this, industry insiders still said, "AI and big models are still a direction worth exploring. Even if this is a long exploration process, its empowerment of the security industry will gradually be reflected, and ultimately create a new era of security."
