Industry trend|In Germany, RFID signage allows car manufacturers to avoid production interruptions due to supply chain shortages

2024-06-26

With the continuous advancement of science and technology, automation technology plays an increasingly important role in various industries. In the automotive manufacturing industry, a significant change is that automakers are actively deploying automatic systems to track supply levels at the assembly site to ensure the smooth operation of the production line. The core of this change lies in the application of RFID (radio frequency identification) technology, which is completely changing the traditional supply chain management method.

Traditional supply chain management usually relies on paper documents, physical inventory checks and manual ordering processes, which is not only inefficient but also prone to errors. Especially at the automotive assembly site, due to the large workload and fast pace, the management requirements for supplies are more stringent. Once a link is out of stock, the entire production line may face the risk of stagnation. In order to solve this problem, automakers began to seek more intelligent and efficient solutions.

The RFID Kanban solution launched by Dresselhaus, a German fastening and furniture technology company, provides an ideal solution for automakers. This system uses RFID technology to achieve real-time tracking and management of supplies, thereby significantly improving the transparency and efficiency of the supply chain.

The Direkt RFID Kanban system is one of the company's core products. The system includes DIREKTmodule shelf units that have passive UHF RFID flat-panel readers and antennas built in. Whenever a supply box with an RFID tag enters the shelf unit, the reader automatically reads the tag information and sends it to the system center. Combined with the weight sensor measurement, the system can accurately determine when supplies need to be replenished, thus avoiding production interruptions caused by out-of-stock conditions.

In addition to improving the real-time nature of the supply chain, the RFID kanban system also eliminates manual and paper-based tracking methods. Traditional kanban systems require dedicated staff to manually track and record the use of supplies, which is not only inefficient but also prone to errors. The RFID kanban system achieves real-time tracking and recording of supplies through automation, greatly improving the accuracy and reliability of data.

In addition, the RFID kanban system is also highly customizable and flexible. It can be configured and adjusted according to different production needs to meet the needs of different industries and scenarios. For example, in the automotive manufacturing industry, the system can be applied to a variety of different types of supply management, including technical sprays, adhesives, sealants, fasteners, tools, etc.

For automakers, the introduction of the RFID kanban system can not only improve production efficiency and quality, but also reduce inventory costs and risks. By grasping the use and inventory status of supplies in real time, companies can make procurement plans and production plans more accurately, thereby avoiding waste and losses caused by inventory backlogs or shortages.

The application of RFID technology is bringing revolutionary changes to automakers. By introducing the RFID Kanban system, automakers can achieve real-time tracking and management of supplies, improve production efficiency and quality, and reduce inventory costs and risks. In the future, with the continuous development and improvement of technology, RFID technology will play a more important role in the automotive manufacturing industry and promote the continuous development and progress of the entire industry.
