With major manufacturers withdrawing from the lidar track, why do some companies keep receiving orders? (IOTE-IoT Expo China)

Recently, according to the German "Handelsblatt" report, Bosch has secretly withdrawn from the research and development of lidar sensors. In this regard, a spokesperson for Bosch confirmed to the German Handelsblatt, "Considering the complexity of the technology and the time to market, Bosch decided not long ago not to invest more resources in the hardware development of lidar sensors." However. , Bosch did not disclose the specific time.

Bosch: May withdraw from lidar track

A Bosch spokesman also said the company plans to shift existing research and development capabilities to other technologies such as radar. However, Bosch still believes that lidar technology is very important for L3 autonomous driving. At the same time, Bosch will retain sufficient expertise in-house to be able to evaluate lidar products and integrate them into autonomous driving functions if necessary.

Hesai Technology: Pure solid-state lidar is on the road, and more customers are selling new cars

At the end of August, Jishi 01 equipped with the Hesai Technology roof lidar AT128 and the flanking pure solid-state lidar FT120 was launched. It is reported that the launch of the FT120 is a milestone - it is the first time that a pure solid-state lidar has been put on the truck in the world.

Recently, more cars equipped with Hesai Technology roof lidar have also been launched overseas, including Gaohe HiPhi Z, Lotus Eletre, etc. In addition, Hesai Technology recently announced a cooperation with roof system supplier Webasto to provide high-performance vehicle-mounted lidar for roof sensor modules designed for ADAS mass-produced models. The two parties will continue to deepen cooperation in the future.

Fushi Technology: Released all-solid-state lidar area array SPAD chip, customers have installed it

Recently, Fushi Technology released an all-solid-state lidar area array SPAD chip.

It is reported that Fushi Technology’s FL6031 chip adopts advanced Stacked-BSI technology, high-speed and high-precision digital-analog hybrid circuits, and high-computing power process nodes. The chip integrates laser drive control, temperature detection, TDC array, histogram processing, and other algorithms. The functional module integrates the SPAD receiving device and signal processing into one chip.

It is understood that Leo, vice president of R&D of Fushi Technology, said at the press conference that in the past four years, Fushi Technology has invested nearly 300 million yuan and, after several iterations of optimization, completed chip testing in the second quarter of this year and began sending samples to leading customers. Today, customer lidar products have begun installation testing and are progressing smoothly.

The news that Bosch has withdrawn from the lidar track reflects a phenomenon: proving that the track requires a certain threshold. It is not just a technical threshold, but a threshold determined by comprehensive factors such as price, customers, industrial chain, and market. This threshold determines that not all hardware manufacturers have the opportunity to get a share of the industry. This is true in the early stages of wild growth, and even more so in the future stable development period.

However, based on the above news, it can be seen that the lidar industry is in a "busy" state. Whether it is technology iteration, new product release, or market development, all players are working hard. Even in the automotive field, many voices from the outside world pessimize the technology, and the industry is also faced with "cost suppression" and "price wars." However, judging from the actual products launched and customer focus, the lidar industry is still Energetic.
