Industry trend|Billions Planned! Tech Giants Flock to the Robotics Race

2024-12-12

On December 10, according to 36kr, Xiaomi's first large-scale model robot company, Beijing Xiaoyu Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Co., Ltd., completed a 100 million yuan A round of financing. This financing was exclusively invested by Beijing Information Industry Development Investment Fund. It is the second time that it has received 100 million yuan in financing after the angel round of 100 million yuan investment from Xiaomi Group, Professor Wang Tianmiao, Beijing Zhiyuan Research Institute, etc.

Xiaoyu Intelligent Manufacturing was established in January 2023. It is a technology company under Xiaomi Group that focuses on developing large-scale model robot technology suitable for the industrial field. It currently has its own "Xiaoyu Brain" universal robot brain and robot large model solution, which enables robots to perform various tasks in industrial environments.

In July this year, Xiaoyu Intelligent Manufacturing also announced that it had reached a comprehensive strategic cooperation with Panasonic in the field of intelligent robots for industrial non-standard scenarios, and will layout the intelligent welding robot market.

As an important development direction of the new generation of artificial intelligence, embodied intelligence is expected to become the next wave of artificial intelligence in the future.

01 Entry and deployment of technology giants

Recently, a company called Dongguan Jimu Machinery Co., Ltd. has undergone industrial and commercial changes, and its registered capital has increased from RMB 870 million to RMB 3.89 billion, an increase of about 347%.

It is reported that Jimu Machine is an electronic component manufacturer established in June 2023 and wholly owned by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Li Jianguo is the legal representative and chairman of the company. The company's business scope includes electronic component manufacturing, other electronic device manufacturing, engineering and technology research and experimental development.

Regarding Huawei's capital increase, some analysts believe that Jimu Machine is likely to serve as a resource integration platform for Huawei's humanoid robots, and will assume the responsibility of productization, supplier integration and ecological construction.

As a technology giant, Huawei's move not only shows Huawei's attention to the humanoid robot industry, but also provides the outside world with information on the development of the humanoid robot industry in the future. On November 15 this year, Huawei established the Global Embodied Intelligence Industry Innovation Center in Shenzhen, and signed a memorandum of cooperation with 16 robot concept companies including Leju Robotics, Zhaowei Electromechanical, Shenzhen Daju Robotics, and Moying Technology. In the future, it will cooperate with these companies on related application scenarios.

02 10 billion yuan investment scale

With the empowerment of capital and the entry of giants, the track of embodied robots has ushered in a golden period of rapid development, and the support of policies has given wings to the development of the embodied robot industry.

In October this year, the National and Local Co-construction Humanoid Robot Innovation Center jointly released the first batch of national humanoid robot embodied intelligence standards - "Humanoid Robot Classification and Grading Application Guide" and "Embodied Intelligence Intelligent Grading Guide" with leading enterprises and institutions in the industry. It defines the terms related to the general, structure, and intelligence of humanoid robots, and guides the classification of humanoid robots in terms of structural appearance, movement mode, and intelligent models, and the intelligent level classification of embodied intelligent technology in the field of humanoid robots.

Recently, many places have intensively issued relevant policies to promote the development of the robot industry. For example, the Chongqing Municipal Economic and Information Commission and other seven departments jointly issued the "Chongqing Municipal Support for the Innovation and Development of Embodied Intelligent Robot Industry Several Policy Measures"; Hangzhou officially released the "Hangzhou Humanoid Robot Industry Development Plan (2024-2029)", proposing key tasks and measures from 15 aspects to enable the high-quality development of the robot industry.

In addition, Nanjing, Sichuan Tianfu New Area and other places have also issued relevant policies to promote the development of the robot industry this year.

Relying on its strong manufacturing base and high-tech enterprises, Shenzhen has attracted a lot of investment and become one of the cities with the most humanoid robot financing events.

The municipal government has also formulated the "Shenzhen Cultivation and Development of Intelligent Robot Industry Cluster Action Plan (2022-2025)", and approved the establishment of the "Shenzhen Artificial Intelligence and Embodied Robot Industry Fund" with a scale target of 10 billion yuan, which will focus on investing in the two fields of artificial intelligence and embodied robots.

03 IOTE Internet of Things Star

This year's IOTE 2024 22nd International Internet of Things Exhibition Shenzhen Station specially set up Hall 12 as an artificial intelligence special exhibition area, in which the humanoid robot exhibition area became one of the highlights of the entire exhibition. As the star exhibit in the artificial intelligence exhibition area, the humanoid robot has received great attention and enthusiastic pursuit from the exhibition audience, and attracted the attention and stop of many technology enthusiasts and industry experts during the three-day exhibition.

It is worth mentioning that the "2024 'Star of Internet of Things'" China Internet of Things industry annual list selection event also attracted the active participation of many companies in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics.
