Industry trend|GAC Honda: The intelligent factory with full-process RFID tracking has been put into production with a total investment of RMB 3.5 billion

Driven by the national "dual carbon" strategy and a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, GAC Honda is accelerating towards a new stage of development of electrification and intelligence. On December 23, 2024, the GAC Honda Development Zone New Energy Factory was officially put into production. This modern factory integrating advanced manufacturing technology, green production concept and intelligent production system is not only a strategic declaration of GAC Honda to embrace industrial transformation, but also a key move for Guangzhou to forge new quality productivity.

 

The total investment of the GAC Honda Development Zone New Energy Factory is 3.5 billion yuan, with an annual production capacity of 120,000 vehicles. The factory covers a large area, and the layout of each workshop is compact and orderly, among which the welding workshop is particularly eye-catching. The entire welding workshop covers an area of 31,350 square meters and mainly produces new electric platform models.

 

Major breakthroughs have been made in intelligent transformation

 

In this new workshop, hundreds of robots and AGVs (automatic guided vehicles) work together to realize fully automated production of logistics and welding. The huge blue robotic arm accurately completes each welding action amid the sparks, and the industry's first welding AI detection technology is like taking a "CT" of the car, with a 360-degree perspective of the car body without dead angles, ensuring that the car body welds are 100% qualified.

 

In addition to the welding workshop, the stamping, painting and assembly workshops also show a high level of intelligence. The stamping workshop adopts a full servo production line. After the parts are produced, the robot completes 100% automatic boxing, and the stamping parts are accurately delivered to the intelligent stereoscopic warehouse through AGV. The warehouse is large in scale and can complete automatic outbound delivery of parts and automatic distribution by AGV, realizing 100% automated unmanned logistics from the end of the stamping line to the welding workshop. The painting workshop uses the industry's advanced quantitative machine and spray gun system to achieve 100% automatic gluing of the entire vehicle. The assembly workshop adopts high-end intelligent manufacturing assembly technology, with an overall automation rate of nearly 30%, nearly 3 times the industry level. At the same time, a number of industry-first efficient automation projects have been introduced to reach the top level in the same field.

In terms of green production, the GAC Honda Development Zone New Energy Factory is also at the forefront. The factory adheres to the green and low-carbon environmental protection concept, and realizes the full-process waste gas treatment in the workshop through the patented odor-free tower, and the emission value is far below the national limit. In addition, the factory has also introduced an intelligent energy management system to accurately monitor the energy consumption of energy-consuming terminals in the factory in real time, and establish an energy AI model for high-power equipment to achieve intelligent switch control. These measures not only greatly reduce carbon emissions, but also enable the factory to obtain a carbon neutrality declaration certificate issued by the Guangzhou Carbon Emissions Trading Center at the beginning of production, realizing "zero carbon at the start of production".

 

The completion and production of the GAC Honda Development Zone New Energy Factory is an important milestone for GAC Honda to achieve intelligent electrification transformation. The factory brings together more than 30 global leading, more than 50 domestic leading, and nearly 60 Honda's global first application of technology and processes. Through the deep introduction of intelligent equipment in the four major workshops, full-process intelligent production is realized to create advanced and high-quality new energy products. In the future, GAC Honda will further enrich its product matrix based on the new factory, expand the application of intelligent technology, and enhance the popularization of intelligent safety and intelligent interaction technology.

 

The completion and commissioning of the GAC Honda New Energy Factory in the Development Zone not only marks a major breakthrough for GAC Honda in its electrification and intelligent transformation, but also demonstrates Guangzhou's firm determination and strong strength in promoting industry first and building a manufacturing city. This modern factory will become an important support for GAC Honda's intelligent electrification upgrade, helping the company to regain a share in the fiercely competitive market.

 

Full-process RFID helps automation

 

In the GAC Honda New Energy Factory, RFID technology is widely used for the identification and tracking of parts. From the moment each part enters the factory, they are given a unique "identity mark". These marks are accurately read and recorded through RFID technology, ensuring that every step of the flow of parts on the production line can be accurately tracked.

 

In the stamping workshop, the full servo production line operates efficiently, and robots complete 100% automatic boxing after the parts are produced. These boxed parts are accurately transported to the intelligent stereoscopic warehouse by AGV, and all the scheduling and tracking are inseparable from the support of RFID technology. In the warehouse, through intelligent docking with the production system, RFID technology realizes automatic outbound delivery of parts and automatic distribution by AGV, ensuring 100% automated unmanned logistics from the end of the stamping line to the welding workshop.

 

In the painting and assembly workshops, RFID technology also plays an important role. The painting workshop uses advanced quantitative machines and spray gun systems to achieve 100% automatic gluing of the entire vehicle, while the assembly workshop uses high-end intelligent manufacturing assembly technology, with an overall automation rate of nearly 30%. In this process, RFID technology ensures that every component can be correctly identified and installed, thereby ensuring product quality and production efficiency.

In addition to its role in the production process, RFID technology also provides great convenience for the quality traceability and production management of GAC Honda's new energy factory. Through RFID technology, the factory can accurately track and record each component, ensuring that it can quickly locate and solve problems when quality problems occur. At the same time, RFID technology also provides accurate data support for the factory's production planning, inventory management, etc., and provides a strong guarantee for the efficient operation of the factory.
