On August 27, 2025, the 15th Shenzhen Workers’ Technology Innovation Games and the 2025 Shenzhen Skills Competition — Industrial Vision System Operator “Craftsman Star” Vocational Skills Competition were grandly held in Hall 12 of the Shenzhen World Convention and Exhibition Center. The competition was co-hosted by the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and the Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions, co-organized by the Shenzhen Artificial Intelligence Industry Association and the Bao’an District Human Resources Bureau, co-organized by Hangzhou Huicui Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., and guided by the Shenzhen Vocational Skills Certification Guidance Office. Themed “Craftsmanship Builds Dreams, Skills Showcase Shenzhen,” the competition, for the first time, adopted the innovative model of “exhibition platform, event empowerment, and industry collaboration,” deeply embedded in the 2025 AGIC Shenzhen (International) General Artificial Intelligence Conference and Industry Expo. Fifty-nine top skilled professionals from across China competed on the same stage, fully demonstrating the exceptional skills of industrial workers in the new era, in the context of the deep integration of artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing. This competition vividly illustrates Shenzhen’s mission and responsibility as a pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics in developing new-quality productivity and building a modern industrial system.

Guangdong Province is currently fully promoting its “manufacturing-led” strategy, accelerating the development of new high-quality productivity and clearly identifying artificial intelligence and intelligent robotics as key development areas. Industrial vision systems, as the first gateway for AI implementation in manufacturing, are the “eyes” of intelligent manufacturing. Against this backdrop, Shenzhen has proactively developed a “Star Craftsman” competition, designating industrial vision system operators as a key event. Through high-profile competitions, the competition aims to align skill standards with industry trends and bridge the gap between technology, equipment, talent, and production lines.

Most of the contestants hail from renowned industrial vision companies such as Tencent, Foxconn, Huacheng Industrial Control, Positive Motion Technology, and Hangzhou Hikvision, representing technical backbones who have truly “experienced life on the production line.” Hangzhou Huicui Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. provided full technical support for the competition, effectively ensuring fairness and professionalism.
The finals were held at a fast pace, with contestants gazing intently at their screens, their hands rapidly switching between keyboard and device. Even a 0.02mm scratch detection or a 0.5mm positioning error can directly impact performance. The competition, inspired by real-world factory production line failures, comprehensively tested the contestants’ technical application and on-the-spot adaptability in complex industrial scenarios, fully embodying the competition’s philosophy of “using competition to promote learning, training, and application.”

After fierce competition, Gu Guobao won first place and was awarded the honorary title of “Craftsman Star.” He was presented with a trophy and certificate by the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and received a 100,000 yuan prize. Zheng Fei and Ye Longwang took second and third place, respectively. According to regulations, the top eight contestants will be recognized as “Shenzhen Technical Experts” after approval by the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
This competition is a vivid example of Shenzhen’s thorough implementation of the central government’s decisions and deployments on strengthening the development of a team of highly skilled professionals in the new era. It is a key initiative to promote the integrated development of “government, industry, academia, research, application, and evaluation,” and a brilliant epitome of how the “craftsman spirit” empowers “Made in China.”
