On Monday local time, Apple began to push the official version of iOS 18.1, and the long-awaited Apple Intelligence was finally officially launched.
Apple AI is slow to enter the market, but it is worth looking forward
For the artificial intelligence functions of Apple Intelligence launched this time, we are basically familiar with them at the previous distribution meeting. These functions include:
1) Writing tool suite: optimize user text input to improve writing quality;
2) Photo cleaning: automatically identify and organize album files to optimize storage space;
3) Email summary: "Priority messages" appear at the top of the inbox, showing the most urgent emails, such as lunch invitations or boarding pass information for the same day. Users can directly click on the email to view the summary and use AI to write smart replies;
4) Notification Summaries: Intelligent recognition generates APP notification summaries to help users obtain key information;
5) Recording, transcription and summary of information can be done in the memo and phone apps.
In the subsequent iOS 18.2 version scheduled to be released in December, Apple will also integrate Siri and ChatGPT.
Regarding Apple AI, Mark Gurman once wrote that some Apple employees believe that the company is about two years behind in the development of artificial intelligence. Because Apple's internal research shows that ChatGPT is about 25% more accurate than Apple's voice assistant Siri and can answer more questions.
From the perspective of AI functions alone, there is actually a gap compared to other manufacturers, such as Honor and OPPO in China. Therefore, the outside world is still more pessimistic about using the current AI to stimulate sales.
However, with Apple's continuous investment in AI, AI functions will become more abundant. With Apple's iOS ecosystem and brand influence, we still believe that Apple is one of the manufacturers most likely to commercialize end-side AI.
Not only mobile phones, AI IPC has become a trend
The development of AI technology can open up the application scenarios of IPC, not limited to monitoring functions. At present, the AI IPC consumer market is gradually being applied in segmented scenarios such as human monitoring, child care, elderly falls, smoke recognition, package recognition, vehicle recognition, and pet recognition. It can accurately identify people, pets, vehicles, and packages and analyze their behavior changes in real time, and then push the analysis results to users. Users purchase algorithms according to their own scenario needs.
The overseas market will have greater demand for AI functions than the domestic market and will develop faster. Moreover, if it can really solve the needs, users are more willing to pay for AI algorithms. However, the current AI algorithms are not yet mature in some scenarios such as child care and elderly falls. Many manufacturers are hesitant to take responsibility if an accident is not detected. In the future, with the continuous maturity of AI algorithms and the development of AI big models, AI IPC will be able to provide more refined services. In the future, IPC will not only be a visual recognition AI device, but also an AI interactive device. It thinks what users think, does what users want to do, and can actively provide feedback on what users need.
