On August 27, 2025, Shenzhen — The first day of the IOTE Shenzhen Station International Main Forum, the “World Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things Innovation Application Ecosystem Summit (WAIA-IOTE 2025),” co-hosted by the World Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things Innovation Alliance (WAIA) and Wulian Media, was successfully held at the Shenzhen World Convention and Exhibition Center. The summit brought together industry leaders, policymakers, leading scholars, and business representatives from over ten countries and regions, including Italy, Canada, Malaysia, Indonesia, Germany, Spain, Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau. The summit discussed cutting-edge applications and development trends of AIoT technology innovation in key sectors such as retail, logistics, manufacturing, energy, healthcare, and agriculture. A series of important collaborations were signed and announced based on the global AIoT market integration and industry co-development.

The summit officially opened at 2:00 PM. Yang Weiqi, Co-Chairman of WAIA and President of the Shenzhen Internet of Things Industry Association, delivered a welcome speech, emphasizing the critical role of global collaboration in promoting AIoT technology innovation and the integration of industry and finance.

Dr. Thinagaran Perumal, Chairman of the IoT and Digital Twin Technical Committee of the Ministry of Standards Malaysia and the School of Computer Science and Information Technology at UPM University, Malaysia, delivered a speech titled “AI IoT in Malaysia: Application Scenarios, Potential, and Investment Opportunities.” Focusing on Malaysia’s AIoT sector, he presented application cases in smart manufacturing, smart agriculture, and smart healthcare. He also highlighted Malaysia’s national strategies and tax incentives, demonstrating its approach to building AIoT solutions.

Alex Shang, General Manager of Deutsche Telekom’s IoT Business Unit (Automotive) in Greater China, introduced the company’s core businesses and strengths in areas such as communications network construction and digital transformation services. Xingtai Technology Senior Business Development Manager Erika Xiao presented a diverse range of innovative products, including e-paper conference table signs, employee badges, and phone cases, with the theme of “Innovative Applications of E-paper Products.” These products, with their low power consumption and high contrast, can be used in a variety of applications, including office and consumer electronics. The company will continue to promote the popularization of e-paper technology and looks forward to working with partners to foster industry development.

During the summit, the WAIA Alliance signed a series of global Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with its co-sponsors and partners, and held a signing ceremony. Participating organizations included: IoT Italy, AIoT Canada, the African Internet of Things Association, the Indonesian Security Association, FutureOS of Dubai Expo City, the Institute of Industrial Physics of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the Auto-ID Association of Asia (AIM Asia), and the Malaysian Change Maker Association. Each signing organization will collaborate closely with the WAIA Alliance to develop long-term collaborations based on regional markets, product technologies, and innovative scenarios. These collaborations will include cross-border exhibitions, market resources, supply-demand matching, pilot projects, expert reviews, and industry communities, fostering the implementation of diverse AIoT ecosystem outcomes.

The conference also announced the first WAIA Global Expert Panel, and WAIA Co-Chairman Yang Weiqi and WAIA Co-Secretary-General Dou Changjun jointly launched the expert certificate issuance ceremony. These experts, drawn from WAIA’s founding organizations and representative member companies, represent leading AIoT market experts from academia, industry, and government across countries and regions around the world. After the main agenda of the summit, the event transitioned to the WAIA Alliance Network International Supply and Demand Matchmaking Session, bringing together buyers, suppliers, and service providers from around the world. These participants engaged in discussions focusing on AI+IoT technologies, products, project requirements, scenario matching, and upstream and downstream collaboration, seeking to recruit partners and facilitate the realization of business opportunities.
With the successful conclusion of the International Supply and Demand Matchmaking Conference, the “AI and IoT Innovation Application Ecosystem Summit (WAIA-IOTE 2025)” officially concluded in Shenzhen. Following the conference, a WAIA-led international exchange reception brought together over 100 overseas buyers from around the globe, creating a vibrant and interactive atmosphere. Additionally, during the IOTE exhibition from August 27th to 29th, the WAIA Alliance established a WAIA VIP Networking Area in Hall 11 for international buyers and organizations to interact. Hosted by Zhuang Yijian, President of the Hong Kong Internet of Things Chamber of Commerce, the event invited representatives from various AIoT organizations around the world to share and exchange ideas. The Alliance is committed not only to building a cross-border bridge for AIoT technology exchange and industry collaboration, but also to injecting innovation and transaction vitality into the global smart IoT market through precise industry supply and demand matching.
