Industry trend|Able to detect RFID tags that do not belong to it, this sorting vehicle is marketed in Europe

2025-03-14

In elderly care centers, the effective management of clothing has always been an important challenge, especially how to avoid mixing up and losing personal clothing with linen. The recently launched UHF Sorti-Cart by Buller Green provides an innovative solution to this problem using RFID technology.

The UHF Sorti-Cart has a built-in RFID reader that automatically identifies clothing as it is removed for cleaning. The design of this sorting car fully takes into account the special needs of elderly care centers and ensures the effective separation of personal clothing from linen through RFID technology. During the collection of dirty textiles, personal clothing is often mixed with linen and towels, causing losses to residents. The UHF Sorti-Cart effectively solves this problem through digital sorting.

The sorting cart, developed by Bullard Green and trolley supplier French Hospital, has three different compartments: two for linen and towels and one for residents' personal clothing. In each linen and towel compartment, an RFID reader antenna is installed to accurately identify and distinguish between different types of textiles. At the same time, only residents' clothing is affixed with UHF RFID tags, which are provided by Datamars and heat-sealed directly to personal clothing.

Detects RFID tags that do not belong to it and has a high degree of autonomy

The UHF Sorti-Cart not only has powerful recognition capabilities, but also has a high degree of autonomy. This sorting car comes with software that can detect RFID tags that do not belong to it in the laundry tub, and works completely "independently" without any Internet or Ethernet connection. When a sorting error is identified, the on-board software immediately alerts the operator through an integrated buzzer and stack light, allowing for rapid correction.

In addition to avoiding confusion and loss of clothing, the UHF Sorti-Cart also brings other significant benefits to nursing homes. Through precise data collection and analysis, nursing homes can understand the number of clothes saved by RFID tag readings per resident per month, thereby significantly reducing complaints caused by missing clothes. This not only improves the operational efficiency of nursing homes, but also significantly improves residents' satisfaction and quality of life.

In addition, the UHF Sorti-Cart can also be used for the management of laundry items. Individual bags containing clothes washed for each resident are read to ensure that their contents belong to the same resident. Additional readers in the laundry room are used to ensure that the correct washing program is adopted and delicate textiles are handled accordingly. This refined management not only ensures washing quality, but also further reduces the complexity of downstream processing.

Currently, the UHF Sorti-Cart is being used in the Bulledgreen Laundry and in nursing homes in France, Belgium, Spain and Switzerland that use the laundry service. From October 2024, the product will also be available in countries where Bulledgreen does not provide services. The successful application of this sorting car not only solves the problem of clothing management in elderly care centers, but also brings tangible benefits to nursing home operators and laundry services.

With the aging of the population, the demand for elderly care centers is growing, and the requirements for clothing management are getting higher and higher. With its unique RFID technology and efficient management methods, the UHF Sorti-Cart provides a brand-new solution for clothing management in elderly care centers. In the days to come, this sorting car will play a role in more fields and scenarios, bringing more convenience and efficiency to people's lives.

What other roles can RFID play in nursing homes

In addition to the laundry management mentioned above, RFID can also play a variety of important roles in nursing homes, which together provide strong guarantees for the safety management of nursing homes and the lives of the elderly and employees. Specifically reflected in the following aspects:

1. Personnel trajectory management

Automatic access control: Installing RFID readers at important entrances and exits of nursing homes can realize automatic access control management. When the bracelet worn by the elderly or employees enters the recognition range of the reader, the system will automatically identify and open the access control without swiping the card or manual operation. This improves the efficiency and convenience of access control management.

Entry and exit records: Every time the access control is opened, it will be transmitted to the background management system and recorded in the database. This helps managers understand the entry and exit of the elderly and employees, understand the activity trajectory of the elderly and employees, and promptly discover potential safety hazards to ensure the safety management of the nursing home.

2. File management and information query

File management: From the first day of the elderly's stay, their basic information, health information, precautions, etc. can be entered into the RFID system. This information can be bound to the label on the bracelet to realize the whole process management of the elderly's information.

Information query: Managers can query the elderly's activity location, statistical exercise pattern table and other information at any time through the RFID system. This helps managers better arrange the elderly's daily life and entertainment activities. At the same time, visitors can also quickly find the location of the elderly through the system, which brings convenience to visitors.

3. Improve management efficiency and service quality

Reduce management costs: RFID system can replace the original manual management method and provide efficient, accurate and rich information-based intelligent management. This reduces the management cost of nursing homes and improves work efficiency.

Personalized service: Through the data collected by the RFID system, managers can better understand the behavior habits and health status of the elderly. This helps to provide personalized care and services for the elderly and improve their quality of life.
