Industry trend|Calterah completed a D round of financing worth hundreds of millions of yuan, focusing on the development of CMOS millimeter-wave radar SoC chips

Recently, Calterah, the global leader in CMOS millimeter-wave radar SoC chips, announced the completion of a D round of financing of hundreds of millions of RMB. This round of financing was jointly invested by new and old shareholders such as a national industrial fund, Guoxin Venture Capital, Fu Venture Capital, Guotou Merchants, and Walden International. Huaxing Securities, a subsidiary of Huaxing Capital, has long served as the exclusive financial advisor.

As a CMOS process millimeter-wave radar chip design manufacturer and smart car sensor chip developer, Calterah focuses on the research and development of millimeter-wave radar sensor chips with high integration. At present, Calterah has the most comprehensive millimeter-wave radar chip product portfolio in the industry, including 77/79 GHz and 60 GHz SoC and SoC AiP chips, which are used in 4D imaging radar, forward radar, corner radar, cabin radar, automatic door opening obstacle avoidance radar and other automotive assisted driving and autonomous driving fields.

 

In terms of financing, Calterah has completed about 4 rounds of financing, and the last round of financing was a C round of financing of hundreds of millions of RMB obtained in January 2022. The company's investors mainly include Advanced Manufacturing Industry Investment Fund, Fosun Capital, CICC and other institutions. Another large amount of financing shows that the capital market has sufficient confidence in its technology research and development, mass production promotion, market strength, etc.

 

In 2017, Calterah successfully mass-produced the world's first automotive-grade CMOS process 77/79GHz millimeter-wave radar RF front-end chip, which reduced the cost by more than 50% compared with the traditional silicon germanium process, and took the lead in achieving a breakthrough in the automotive front-end market.

 

In 2019, Calterah took the lead in launching SoC chips with integrated radar signal processing baseband accelerators, bringing a new revolution to the development and realization of high-performance, easy-to-develop, and miniaturized millimeter-wave radar sensors. In addition, Calterah has also mass-produced the world's first 77GHz and 60GHz millimeter-wave radar package integrated on-chip antenna (AiP) SoC chips, accelerating the popularization of millimeter-wave radar in the automotive and industrial consumer markets.

 

So far, Calterah has more than 400 patents worldwide, of which 349 have been published patent applications, and nearly 80% are invention patents. The company's patent layout is mainly concentrated in multiple technical fields such as radar systems, sensors, radio, and integrated circuits.

 

In terms of commercialization, Gatland has now covered more than 20 OEMs including BYD, Wenjie, Chery, SAIC, Zeekr, NIO, Changan, and Leapmotor, and has been successfully installed in more than 170 domestic and foreign models, with cumulative shipments exceeding 8.5 million units, accounting for approximately 20% of the domestic market share.
