The new productive forces emphasize "newness," focus on "quality," and are rooted in "productivity." They break through traditional economic growth models, with high efficiency and high quality as basic requirements, and digitization, networking, and intelligence as basic characteristics. Promoting digital technology innovation as the main direction and nurturing the development of new productive forces are imperative.
Industrial Internet platforms are key technologies for developing new productive forces. However, these platforms have been facing challenges of existing only on paper without substantial implementation, especially in the past two years of global economic downturn post-pandemic. Many enterprises struggle to survive, with even fewer budgets for digitization. Research and development investment is substantial, while profitability remains a common issue for industrial Internet platforms.
Taking Shugen Internet, a leading enterprise in the industrial Internet platform that failed to debut on the science and technology innovation board last year, as an example, it has been operating at a loss for years. It recorded losses of 339 million yuan in 2019, 292 million yuan in 2020, and 710 million yuan in 2021, with non-net profits of -359 million yuan, -481 million yuan, and -776 million yuan respectively. The net cash flows from operating activities from 2019 to 2021 were -124 million yuan, -68.99 million yuan, and -382 million yuan respectively.
With the advent of the new productive forces, industrial Internet platforms are expected to find more opportunities. The pace of establishing smart factories continues to accelerate. By 2023, China's application scale of intelligent manufacturing will lead globally, with nearly 8,000 digital workshops and smart factories built nationwide. Among them, more than 2,500 have completed digital transformation, and 209 smart manufacturing demonstration factories have been established. This trend enhances the speed of industrial product iteration, significantly improves the level of green development, and promotes the implementation of new manufacturing models from conceptual frameworks to practical applications.
Against this backdrop, the Industrial Internet of Things Expo (IOTE) Smart Factory Special Committee, along with various partners, will jointly organize the "IOTE·2024 Shanghai 5G+ Industrial Internet Application Conference." The conference will focus on multidimensional discussions about the current status, trends, challenges, and solutions of factory manufacturing. Renowned system integrators, application units, solution providers, and other enterprise guests from the industrial field will be invited to speak at the event, engaging in discussions and exchanges with an expected audience of over 300 attendees to facilitate communication and collaboration.
