2024 is coming to an end. This year, many industries have begun to use RFID on a large scale. Today, let’s take stock of them:

Zhejiang Yuecheng requires all drones to install RFID real-name tags.

In order to strengthen the safety management of civil drones in the whole district, create a good Yuecheng drone flight airspace environment, create a management model for low-altitude drone flights in the province, and improve the level of public safety, the Yuecheng District Public Security Bureau decided to carry out the installation of drone Internet of Things radio frequency identification cards (RFID chips) tags throughout the district. This initiative aims to effectively supervise drones through technical means to ensure the compliance and safety of drone flights.

Malaysia's new regulations: New pure electric vehicles must install RFID license plates.

In September, the Malaysian Ministry of Transport announced an important measure requiring all newly registered pure electric vehicles (EVs) to install special license plates with RFID (radio frequency identification) technology, namely RPK license plates. This move marks a solid step forward for Malaysia in promoting the popularization of electric vehicles and the construction of intelligent transportation systems (ITS).

The largest tire factory in China announced that it has begun to use RFID technology for anti-counterfeiting and combat counterfeit tires.

In November, Zhongce Rubber officially announced that its No. 1 series tires will fully apply RFID technology, marking an important step forward for Zhongce Rubber in the field of intelligent tire management. Zhongce Rubber No. 1 series tires are a flagship tire product carefully created by Zhongce Rubber Group. They are suitable for various high-end passenger cars, including sedans, SUVs, etc., and can provide users with a safer, more comfortable and pleasant driving experience. On October 29 this year, Zhongce Rubber just celebrated the delivery of its 5 millionth No. 1 series tire.

It is understood that Zhongce Rubber has embedded RFID chips inside the tires to achieve a "one tire, one core" traceability method. The application of this technology enables every link of the tire from the entry of raw materials into the factory to the transfer of finished products to consumers to be recorded, achieving full traceability. At the same time, RFID technology can also help Zhongce Rubber monitor the production process of tires in real time to ensure that each process meets quality standards.

Beontag passes Michelin's rigorous test for embedded tire tags.

Previously, RFID tags were only used in production lines and inventory management in the tire market. Real embedded tire tags involve safety standards and technical maturity issues. Enterprises need to go through the process from intervention, testing to application, and then to full popularization. It will take a certain period of time. This time, Beontag's tags passed the embedded tire test, which is a huge breakthrough for the application of RFID in the tire manufacturing industry.

Beontag successfully passed the strict requirements of tire giant Michelin and jointly developed an RFID-enabled tire that can work normally when driving up to one million kilometers, which will also enable Beontag's technology to be included in millions of new commercial and passenger tires of Michelin in the next few years. Beontag's partnership with Michelin dates back to 2019, when the two companies started from scratch and worked together to develop a new HF RFID embedded tag. After years of dedicated research and development and months of rigorous reliability testing, they finally created an extremely durable and reliable RFID technology tire.

MINISO introduces RFID technology.

According to the authoritative Frost & Sullivan report, in 2021, the GMV of MINISO's online store sales products totaled approximately 18 billion yuan (equivalent to 2.8 billion US dollars), making it the world's largest private-label home furnishing comprehensive retailer. Behind this brilliant achievement is MINISO's unremitting pursuit and efforts for efficient inventory management. As a leader in RFID technology, Cinda IoT provides MINISO with an overall solution based on RFID technology. Through the refined management concept of "one item, one code", each item is embedded with a unique RFID electronic tag and connected to the RFID intelligent management platform of Xiamen Cinda Lianke Information Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Cinda Lianke").

Cainiao and McDonald's China jointly released new results of "one box, one code".

On November 27, Cainiao joined hands with McDonald's China supplier partners to jointly release new results of the smart supply chain with the "one box, one code" project as the core. The "one box, one code" technology developed by McDonald's China in cooperation with Cainiao and others has been deployed in upstream factories, logistics centers, restaurants, etc. in many places, and has completed batch verification of all goods and the entire chain in McDonald's restaurants in pilot markets. The project was initiated by McDonald's China, combined with the advanced Internet of Things technology provided by Cainiao, and jointly promoted by suppliers such as Shunxinhui, Bimbo, Zidan, Tyson, Cargill, Shengnong, and McCann. Next, the project will enter the national deployment stage, and it is expected to connect to more than 100 supplier factories to accelerate the replication and promotion within the McDonald's China supply chain system.

The chain bakery will apply Avery's RFID tags in 2,750 branches.

RFID technology has long been widely used in fields such as clothing, luxury goods and tires, but its promotion in the food industry has lagged behind. However, this situation is being changed by Kroger. As a pioneer in the food retail field, Kroger is deploying ultra-high frequency radio frequency identification (RFID) technology in hundreds of its stores to track fresh baked goods, which is expected to become the largest RFID technology demonstration in the food industry.

Kroger and Avery have worked together to promote this technological innovation. According to the plan of both parties, RFID technology will be promoted in most of Kroger's 2,750 stores in the next year and a half. This system uses Avery Dennison's RFID tags and is mainly used on the packaging of freshly baked bread, muffins and cookies.

More and more places are using RFID to strengthen the intelligent management of electric bicycles.

The Traffic Police Detachment of the Xi'an Public Security Bureau issued a tender notice in July 2024, planning to purchase electric bicycle RFID chip electronic license plates and related management system operation and maintenance services, with a budget of 10 million yuan.

In October this year, Jiading, Shanghai, launched the Jiading non-site law enforcement evidence collection equipment construction project bidding, intending to add non-site law enforcement equipment, and simultaneously promote the construction of RFID electric bicycle intelligent management and control systems and non-motor vehicles and pedestrian law enforcement equipment. The main procurement content of this project is: 53 sets of new electronic police, 100 sets of new pedestrian non-machine electronic police, 60 sets of new RFID capture equipment, and related supporting equipment.

On December 2, Guangzhou Yili Engineering Management Co., Ltd. was commissioned by Guangdong Yuean Equipment Factory to launch a procurement project for the semi-finished products and inks for electric bicycle RFID digital license plates of Guangdong Yuean Equipment Factory. The project budget is as high as 40 million.
